Yes sireeee. You no need to look any further.

There'll be a bit of tiny asterisked swearing, too - yee haa! We have fun. Etc.

London PR agency say: hacks don't care 'bout you

Here is my tip for you today, master and missus. Straight from the clever bunnies at London pr agency
.

It's this: you are nothing, your company means nada, nothing, and the sooner you realise that, the sooner you'll start getting better pick-up in the media.

I wrote a blog post on why
about you or your company for a website called Mortgage Solutions last year.

F**k your merger

I recalled how a senior partner of a client was trying to tell a consumer journalist at a national newspaper about his company's recent merger with another company.

The journalist piped up that she didn't (and I quote) give a f**k about his merger and that she was there for him to give her a story that was relevant to her readers.

I know her well so it was all quite amusing, and in good humour, but the client certainly got the point.

This is quite an extreme example, of course. But what it relays quite unequivocally is how journalists are ultimately only after stories. They don't really care about you or your company.

So forget the protracted sales pitch.

Focus on the story

It's with this mindset that you need to approach hacks.

Yes, when you meet them for lunch or coffee you can give them a bit of an intro on your company, of course, but keep it short and sweet.

Then get stuck into the real reason why you're there: to give them a story. If you do that, they'll love you long time.

And most importantly they'll give your firm great coverage, which is the only reason you're there anyway.
